CHOICE OF WORDS:
(1.) Русскому отношение соответствуют в английском языке слова terms, relations, attitude. Существительное relations предполагает отношения не менее чем двух участников и относится как к отдельным людям, так и к группе людей, к странам, к организациям: friendly relations between these countries дружественные отношения между этими странами; our relations have always been excellent у нас всегда были отличные отношения. Существительное terms относится только к личным отношениям между отдельными людьми: I am on good terms with him я с ним в хороших отношениях/у меня с ним хорошие отношения. (2.) Русскому иметь отношение (не иметь отношения) к кому-либо, чему-либо соответствует сочетание to have (something, nothing) to do with smb, smth: What have you to do with it? Какое ты имеешь к этому отношение? He has nothing to do with our plan. Он к нашему плану не имеет никакого отношения. (3.) Русские отношение/подход к чему-либо, к кому-либо; относиться к чему-либо, к кому-либо могут быть переданы несколькими сочетаниями - smb's attitude to smb, smth; smb's opinion about smb, smth; smb's approach to smth; to take smth somehow: His attitude to his brother was surprisingly cold. Его отношение к брату было на удивление холодным. If that's your attitude to the problem, there is no discussing. Если такова ваша позиция в этом вопросе, то нет смысла его обсуждать. What's his opinion about our suggestion? Каково его мнение о нашем предложении? I don't like his approach to his studies. Мне не нравится его отношение к учебе. It is a wrong approach to the problem. Это неверный подход к проблеме. How did he take our refusal? Как он отнесся к нашему отказу? What does he think about our plan? Что он думает по поводу нашего плана? /Как он относится к нашему плану? (4.) Русское словосочетание к кому-либо доброжелательно (хорошо, дружелюбно, плохо) относиться передается глаголом to treat smb kindly (well, friendly, badly): They treated me very kindly (friendly). /They were very kind (friendly) to me. Они относятся ко мне очень по-доброму/дружелюбно/по-дружески
